Sequential instruction in reading, writing, listening, and speaking are taught in integrated units of reading and writing in the elementary grades, while middle and high school students work on individual elements. Creating an ever-increasing base of grammatical knowledge, this interactive, multi-media filled program will engage and develop vital English skills.

Grade 3 SOS 2010 Language Arts focuses on Reading and Sentence Building, including reading, spelling, parts of speech, adverbs, thank you letters, writing paragraphs and poetry.

Emphasizing a Christian view of history, the contributions of ancient cultures to historiography, and the relationship between history and geography, students will gain an introduction to anthropology and sociology. Students will learn how environment directly affects a group's culture; how Western political thought directly influenced the Declaration of Independence; how to define important political and economic terms; and describe the political structure of the Federal and state governments.

The position of the individual citizen in today's society is examined alongside a review of America's historical background, the formation of her government, and the major changes that have occurred in the nation, reflecting the citizen's privileges and responsibilities to make contributions to the betterment of the world.

Four instructional Units. This course was designed to help students gain the skills needed to pass the GED exam; it may also be useful as a review for students who have interrupted their education between high school and college; or those interested in improving their basic skills before entering credit classes.

System Requirements:

Students will develop high school graduate level skills in arithmetic, including fractions, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, percentages, measurements, and basic statistical measures. Estimation, solving a problem that requires multiple steps, discerning between material needed and not needed in solving a problem, and recognizing when there is not enough information to answer a problem are also covered. Algebraic and geometric concepts featured include linear equations and inequalities, how to simplify and factor numbers, measurements of congruence and similarity, the Pythagorean Theorem, and more.

System Requirements:

Grammar, capitalization, punctuation, word skills, and sentence analysis and construction are covered in detail. Students will learn how to write well-organized paragraphs that contain good topic sentences that show unity, sequence, coordination, and subordination, as well as identifying and correcting common composition problems. They will become familiar with narrative, descriptive, persuasive, chronological, expository, research, and critical analysis styles of writing, and various methods of classification. Four genres of literature, as well as how poets, playwrights, novelists, and other writers have used the basic tools of language, is also covered.
