Warmth

My mind aches
& my soul is freezing
the snow in my boots
makes it harder to walk
despite the warmth
of my destination

But I will keep walking
as long as there is
strength in my spirit

& if I succumb
to exhaustion
& forget how to step

& if I fall to my stomach
& close my eyes to numb darkness

& if I never make it
to the destination
& if I never find the warmth

I feel confident that the warmth
will come & find me
