A Guide for Using Curious George Series in the Classroom

Curious, inquisitive, clever, inventive, and original. These words describe George, a captivating little monkey who was taken many years ago from his native land, Africa, by the man in the yellow hat, to live in the new land. Since then, George has been an inspiration to his readers and fans, who have learned to actively pursue and accept life's challenges. George remains under the care of the man in the yellow hat in the original, first seven books in the Curious George series. This unit includes activities for the seven books, beginning with his arrival in a new land and a new home in the zoo and ending with the seventh book, which is entertaining and educational as readers become more familiar with hospital life. After sharing one of the other Curious George books with the class, refer to the Appendix for suggested activities. The Be Curious! activities following the unit activities are related extensions to encourage and motivate the readers to be curious and explore new directions.
